Staying true to the resolutions

posted Friday, 2 January 2004

Have I busted my resolutions yet? Not  one. I even got a jump on the family knitting thing. Well actually, I am making a pair of Fuzzy Feet for my MIL for her birthday which was Wednesday. But since we are taking her to dinner Saturday night I am still on schedule. And to be honest she has more hand knit items from me than any other family member-she's a hand knit sock lover. I have one foot done (easy when she wears a size 5 shoe) and will start the second tonight. Right now I am full house and need hands for baby care.

And speaking of baby's, Baby S's bonnet has been ripped out! It was supposed to be size 3 months and it would barely fit a baby doll! I was trying to save it and make it longer but it still would not have been deep enough. So I will start over with different needles. I am not in like with Dale Baby patterns. The last few bonnets I have tried to make have been horrible on sizing. They seem to run skimpy, or is it just me. And yes, I got gauge.

Still need to work on a Lucy Bag, may take that to the bowling center today while the kiddos bowl. I can't wait for them to go back to school so I can take a rest! We have run or had play mates in every day this week.

We had a nice New Year's at our house with 2 other families. We had scrumptious steaks from a not so local butcher shop, shrimp cocktail, Au gratin pots, green beans that had simmered all day long, and snacky stuff. And I am still finishing off the cupcakes we made. 24 cupcakes takes a long time. We put confetti sprinkles on them for a festive feel. I also had 4 "poppers" on hand for the kids to pop at midnight. We called it 12:00 AM somewhere in the world and did them at 11:00 PM. Best $4.00 I ever spent at Target. They played with the streamers for the next 30 minutes. And then picked up the mess and threw it away when they were done. I'm going back for more of those!

Then New Year's Day was knitting at my buddy's house. As we ate lunch the lights went out. And stayed out. As it got later it was harder to knit, at least I had windows at my back. As we were leaving they came back on. But we were off to join DH at neighbor's house for chili and McD's. They have 2 girls and were at our house the night before. So we just continued the party there. DHs watched the bowl games and we talked. I did grab a hat I made her youngest so I could write my pattern to hopefully sell at my local shop. My friend couldn't believe it took me minutes to write out the pattern. And of course what I wrote hardly filled a page. That's what a mazed me about knitting patterns. Coming from a sewing background I was amazed you could fit all the instructions on such a small sheet.

Well, baby is awake and one handed typing is not my thing!
