No help needed

posted Thursday, 8 March 2007

I hope this has taken care of the problem. I am now using Firefox for my browser when I am posting.

So let's see what I can use on my editor that I used to not be able to use.

Pictures? Looks like it works to me. Yeah! No more having to use the dreaded html code to do it myself. A link? Can I add a link with the editor? Let's see, how about the new Knitty.com? A Co-op that Four Ladies belongs to has an ad in the current issue. Go to the pattern page and refresh until you see an ad to the right for Local Yarn Shop. It works! Wahoo!

What else did I used to have to do by hand, I mean manually? Can't think of anything. But I keep having to re-enter the font size from 8 pt to 10 pt. It won't stay on point!
Maybe I will just wait until I finish the post and then resize the font.

See that darling bunny up there? I made that for the Elder. Seems she was jealous of the Younger's bunny. Oh well. I know what else I might be able to do? Write entries to go along with the FOs in my photo albums. Haven't been able to do that for awhile.

OK, enough about the wonderful things I can do on my blog. I really do love being at Blog-City. I had to do my Stitches reg online since the phone lines were busy. Hoping I got my classes. Barbara signed up for the Pattern 101 class, so I will grill her about it after Stitches. I have written up patterns before, I just want to make sure I am doing the best job I can do. It's tricky business.

Especially when you are writing for a mass audience. Most designers don't write to a knitter's level. They need to condense and trim to fit it all on the smallest layout possible. But not all knitters know what it means to "work in pattern". Not all knitters like to work from charts. Some don't think to go look for an explanation of a pattern in a technique book like Vogue Knitting, Knitter's Digest, etc. Some don't even OWN one. The Vogue Knitting was the first book I bought! It helped me through so many issues I can't imagine not having it the first few years of knitting. I still go back to it to refresh and relearn things I don't use often. If every knitter would just invest in a good guide they would help themselves immensely. If you don't already have one, get one. I also like the Big Book of Knitting.

Well, time to nap. I am coming down with a cold, and with a class to teach tonight, I fear I need to recharge my batteries. This cold sure has taken it's time to come to fruition. I started with chills and weariness on Sunday, then the sinus pressure hit. Now the nose is starting to drain, the sneezing is non-stop, the headaches no better. I just want to curl up with a good book and cuddle under the covers. Oh well. duty calls.
