My Top Ten New Year's Resolutions

posted Wednesday, 31 December 2003

10. Be diligent in getting girls to their new music lessons (guitar for Elder and Piano for Younger) so they can become famous musicians and buy me a mansion. OK, so that dream will take a few years.

9. Get Cornice Board treatments made for the living room window and patio door.

8. Make the Great Drape to separate the Sitting Room from the Bedroom. DH can't sleep when I am partying (read knitting) in the Sitting Room.

7. Do something for the windows in the Dining Room (read Sewing/Knitting Stash/Stamping/Needlework Stash Room). Anything, just something to keep the blinds company!

6. Continue to change my wardrobe to reflect a more dignified look. Jeans and denim shirts are not appropriate for all occasions!

5. Get my DH to agree to take the girls to another state besides Florida for vacation, while still keeping the 2 Florida trips. Texas is their choice.

4. Learn to be a better spinner, and yes Kristi, that means buying a spinning wheel!

3. Learn a new knitting technique, not sure what yet.

2. Finish the works in progress that are getting carried over, I think there are 4 or 5 active and inactive ones. And since 3 are for me I really need to work on this!

And the #1 New Year's Resolution is: Make sure I have made 1 knit item for all my siblings, parents, nieces and nephews, and ditto on the in-law side.

By this I mean that eventually everyone will have 1 item made by me, not that I will make 1 for everyone in the coming year. Some already have an item from last year, this means I only have to make 22 items in the next 12 months. That means 2 items a month must be family knitting. My plans are for hats, Fuzzy Feet, felted bags or mittens. Now to arrange the knitting calendar so that I hit all the birthdays (although a pair of gloves for an April birthday might be questionable) and such. So in January I need a pair of Fuzzy Feet and a hat. I bet I even have all I need right here at home, so I don't even need to go shopping. Just need to find an appropriate hat pattern for a guy. At least this plan will hopefully eliminate that "What do I work on now" syndrome. Probably not. I will still obsess about which pattern to use when it isn't a Fuzzy Feet gift. Like, right now I can't even think of any hat pattern for a guy that uses Cascade 220. I have 2 colors that would be appropriate for a guy, just need to find a pattern.

Have a SAFE and Happy New Year!!!
