Chloe Mitts
These mitts started from another pattern and at some point morphed into something else!
Sizes:
Ladies Sm and Med
Materials:
MC - 1 skein Elann Peruvian Pure Alapca
CC1 - 1 skein Elann Peruvian Pure Alpaca
CC2 - 1 skein Elann Peruvian Pure Alapca
CC3 - 1 skein Elann Peruvian Pure Alpaca
Size 3 US needles
Size 6 US needles
3 stitch markers
Gauge:
24 sts and 28 rows over 4"x4"
Directions:With MC and size 3 US needles, cast on 40(48) sts. Place marker. Join into the round, making sure to not twist the sts.
Knit in 2x2 rib for 3.5"(4"). Knit 1 round MC.
Change to size 6 US needles and begin Chart Pattern
Chart Key:
MC = l
CC1 = x
CC2 =o
CC3 = e
Use thumb gusset pattern in chart. For Size Med, do 1 more set of increases on row 13 of Chart. Work Chart through to row 11(13).
Next Round: Round 12(14) of Chart: K1, place the thumb gusset sts on waste yarn, K in pattern to end of round.
Continue knitting Rounds 13(15)-27, following the Chart Pattern.
Next Round: Change to Size 3 US needles and MC. Knit 1 round.
Knit 2x2 Ribbing for 1". Bind off all stitches.
Thumb Directions:
Change to MC and knit across gusset sts. Pick up and knit 3 sts across the gap.
Knit in the round for 1.5"(2").
Next Round: K2tog to end of round. 7(8)sts
Round 1: Knit to end of round.
Round 2: K2tog to end of round, ending K1 for Small Size. 4 sts
Cut tail and weave though live sts. Pull taut to close up gap.
Optional
Pop Off Tops:
Basically, with 5 US needles and MC you will pick up and knit 20(24) sts across the base of the ribbing across the top of the mitten. Place markers after sts 10 and 20 for Sm(12 and 24 for Med) sizes. Cast on 20(24) sts, place markers in the same manner, and join in the round. Knit in 2x2 ribbing for 1". Knit in St st for 1"(1.5").
Next Round: *K3(4), K2tog* 32(40) sts
Next Round: *K2(3), K2tog* 24(32) sts
Continue knitting one less st before knitting 2 together until you have 8 sts remaining.
Cut yarn, leave a tail and weave tail through live sts.
Finishing:
Weave in all ends on the wrong side.
